To understand the current situation in Syria is necessary to analyze a multitude of internal and external factors, ranging from the religious to the political and economic. Rebellions in
territory, ethnic and religious conflicts in nature, external attacks, alliances and oppositions, interventions, political and economic interests, all part within what
is the current Syrian conflict.
The country, located in the Middle East, is in civil war since 2011, driven by different rebel groups against the government of Bashar Al-Assad and the armed forces, with the aim of overthrowing President said power. At first, this conflict was influenced by the wave of revolutions in what was called "the Arab Spring" (2011) against the governments of countries like Egypt and Tunisia. Clearly, this variety of protests and complaints that led to certain conflicts in each country are strongly related also with ethnic and religious factors. It is therefore necessary to understand how the particular case of Syria, a country which contains within its territory multi-religious and ethnic diversity, ranging from different branches of Islam to Christianity.
There are two opposing sides in this conflict: on the one hand, the opposition claims that the government of Bashar Al-Assad is a violent and repressive dictatorship, demanding democracy and full enjoyment of human rights and freedoms; on the other hand, the government claims that there is a civil war of the people against the president, it is a war against terrorism Syrian state that lurks, comprising groups
as ISIS and other fundamentalist forces as Jayüsh Islam or Al-Nusra. The latter position is interesting
and deserves further analysis.
Syria has suffered while the intervention of the radical group Islamic State (ISIS), you want to gain full control of the region and form a new caliphate, imposing his religious fundamentalism that entails completely bloody and destructive practices for the affected people. This terrorist group is supported and funded by countries in the region, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and also is benefited by the help of Turkey, which opens its doors at the entrance of the fighters. Arguably, the development of this terrorist force is a consequence of the weapons that the United States has placed in the region, and the catastrophic results of their policy interventions, such as the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a country where Islamic State was born, which states that it was, more precisely, in a US prison (Camp Bucca) in the desert of Iraq. The clarification that the ISIS group interventions in the region are not only religious character is necessary, but are also influenced by various political and economic interests. In Syria, the terrorist group and seized all the oil fields, including the last remaining in the hands of the regime, located in the central province of Homs.
In turn, the European powers, the US and the Gulf countries are responsible for sending arms to rebels moderate Syrian National Coalition and the Free Syrian Army. Not only that, the imperialist intervention is speech also go against the attacks of ISIS in the various territories of the Middle East, producing, while counterattacks. These are signs that the main objective seems to be to encourage even more chaos and rainfall in the area, and not to appease the conflict situation. The cure, as they say, is often worse than the disease.
For its part, the government of Al-Assad has the support of a nearby country like Iran but also an important area in the world as it is today Russia country, two countries with which it also has economic exchanges type .
Currently in Syria, constant destructive attacks that cause multiple deaths of civilians live. Cities like Damascus and Aleppo, are almost completely destroyed. There is hardly any peace within its borders, and the outlook seems increasingly catastrophic. The foreign policies demonstrate not lead to any solution rather than deepen the conflict, and not discarded at any time not only internal attacks carried out by rebel movements or external by terrorist groups such as ISIS, but also by Western powers seek to intervene. We can conclude that the Syrian conflict is not only internal, ie, civil war, but rather something much more complex. The country is surrounded by the Islamic State that seeks to establish itself in the territory regardless of how you have to do it or its consequences. The Syrian army is heavily weakened and a large number of soldiers killed by terrorists. Thousands of people escape the territory as refugees with the consolation of saving their lives, also looking for a future in their country is totally uncertain. For those who still live there, the weather that day-to-day lives is undoubtedly fear, uncertainty and anguish. No one can know what the fate of the Syrian people. It is of global responsibility that the conflict is analyzed in the bud, and the aid is not only immediate or sporadic. There are people asking the world to be heard screams.
